If you have extra pounds on your body, read on. You've probably heard of intermittent fasting by now. It's amazing. But what is the best time of day and for how long should we eat and not eat? Well I've tried all the variations and have it down to a science now, at least for me personally. As I browse the internet, I see other people are figuring out the same thing. So here it is in a nutshell- stop eating when it gets dark... and don't eat anything until 4 o'clock in the afternoon the next day. Nothing. No powders, no energy drinks- nothing but water or maybe tea. Then around 4pm, eat all you want until 7 pm. It may take a week to get used to it, especially getting over the hunger cravings the first half of the day- but if you keep yourself busy doing all kinds of important things, time goes by fast. Plus you get a lot more done!
No you will not lose muscle or energy. No you are not starving yourself because you can eat the proper amount of calories- just all within a 3-4 hour window.
Not only is this great for fat loss, but also staying young because fasting boosts HGH (human growth hormone). Eating almost anything releases insulin and stops natural HGH production. Insulin leads to fat. Eating nothing until 4 pm is so effective because first the body uses food for energy. This lasts about 5 hours. Then it uses stored glycogen, which lasts 30 seconds (for a sprinter) to several hours (for a sedentary office worker). Then when there is nothing left- it starts using fat for fuel -not muscle! Clinical studies have shown muscle does not get wasted within 24 hours... but FAT does! This is the magic time. The longer you can go without food after your glycogen is used up, the more fat your body burns for fuel. Not eating until 4 pm makes your body burn fat for around 12 hours. If you do some HIIT exercises, like sprinting, you burn a lot more. Both HIIT and Intermittent fasting help the body produce more HGH, which keeps you young and strong.
